Algerian National Team News

Leroy In Talks with FAF

FAF president Mohamed Haddadj has confirmed that the FAF is in talks with French coach Claude Leroy for the vacant national team head coaching position. The two met in Egypt during the African Cup after the majority of French-Algerian coaches recommended his services. Leroy was coach of the DR Congo at the last African Cup and his contract run out at the end of the games.

Ukraine Matchup In Near Future?

El Watan has reported that the Ukrainian national team is looking to setup a friendly with the Algerian national team as they prepare for the upcoming World Cup. Ukraine are in the same group as Tunisia and Saudi Arabia and a friendly against Algeria is perfect preparation for that. The game will reportedly take place in Germany in May, just before the beginning of the World Cup.

LOL. Who knows, maybe Bougherra can shut him down. I mean we played Eto'o 2 years ago and he didnt score on us.

Also, Rangers midfielder Brahim Hemdani said he wants to play for the NT in an interview with Berbere TV. He said he's going to call up the new coach and talk to him about his intentions to play. Also, the FAF supposedly talked with Medhi Lacen of Alaves (Spain), so he might be joining up in the near future. Things are looking up.

Tony!!!
thats the best news I ever heard, it would be so cool if they would play in Germany!! Also when Hemdani and Lacen would join the team, we mustn't wait longer for an uprising, maybe in two years we'll win the CAN 2008 inchallah, its now better with the new staff, and the new FAF president, better than the old corruptin' ****ing ones.

FAF Set On Stambouli

The buzz around the FAF is that Frenchman Henri Stambouli will be the new head coach of the Algerian national team. Stambouli, who is of Algerian origin, has coached many clubs and national teams including the likes of Olympique Marseille (France), FC Sion (Switzerland), CS Sedan (France), Club Africain (Tunisia), RAJA Casablanca (Morocco) and the Malian national team, which he lead to the semi-finals of the 2004 African Cup. The Oran-born technician is expected in the Algerian capital in the coming days to finalize talks with the FAF and its head Hamid Hadadj.

The sports ministre said no algerian coach is qualified ans skilled enough to drive a national team, hence his decision to hire foreigners for all the football national teams (all levels)
