Assalam alaykum!
I am a scandinavian girl married to a man from Algeria. I really want to make a lot of good food this ramadan, especially dishes from his country. But the recipes I found on the internet, he didnt like it. So i wonder if anyone could help me with recipes. I dont want recipes to cous cous or soups, but dinnerrecipes(like sweet meat, meat in tomato..etc..) Also i would like recipes to some good cakes Especially one who is called "Griwisj", dont know how to write it? Its called chebbekyia in maroccan i think. Anyway, I will be so thankful if anyone could help me to serve some good food on the table
Salam

Wa laikoum Salam Malika

Welcome to the forum and Ramadan Mubarak to you and your family.

I’m not Algerian, but I am Moroccan. So I can’t really help you with Traditional Algerian food, but I can get the recipe of Chabakiya from my Mama if you like ?

As for Dwez with al –hum { meat in sauce} or Djez with zeytoun with batata { Chicken, olives and potatoes } let me know if that will appeal to your hubby and I’ll post the recipes.

Take care

Wa Salam

Salaam. The only time I had a problem here at A.com was when I decided to venture into this section...so I left it alone and realise now how many wonderful recipes I've missed. ANYHOW, let me state FOR THE RECORD that I am not Algerian but very humbly will provide our new member Malika with the following website---hope you can read French:
http://www.cuisine-dz.com

This site is in English: http://www.gourmed.gr/recipes/algerian/?gid=1&nodeid=26

If you need any assistance with the translation, let me know. My verbal French is rusty, my reading is OKAY LOL.
Don't burn any pots!

Also, I forgot to mention that brother Pure_Algerian has listed some of the recipes you're interested in, like Sweet Lamb/Meat...a favorite in my home.

Ramadan Kareem
