August 27, 2008 -- A group of Algerian students visited Bozeman Tuesday as an opportunity to experience a different culture.

The youth development and leadership program made three stops in the United States, including Vermont, Washington D.C. and Montana.

The students had a chance to see the branches to the U.S. government from a rare visit to the floor of the House of Representatives to the city mayor in Bozeman.

While in Bozeman, the group took some time to talk about the cultural difference between Algeria and the United States.

"There is many difference about American culture and Algerian culture. First, to start, we don't have same religion," one student said.

"I learned a lot of things. First, I learned to speak English, quickly," another said.

Another student noted that Algeria boasts "wonderful places like mountains and deserts."

The young people also shared the ambitions, hopes and dreams. Some of them said they would like to become pharmacists, doctors and much more. One of the students hoped to become a journalist.
